Greenwich Park
+ My Favorites
Located a short distance via light rail transit from the centre of London (in zone 2) Greenwich Park is the location where we get Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)-- and visitors can see the Greenwich meridian line. Along with offering a wilderness area for deer, the park encompasses formal gardens and historic buildings like the Old Royal Observatory, National Maritime Museum, Queen's House, Cutty Sark and the Royal Naval College. Greenwich Market is in the same area.

Green Park
+ My Favorites
Green Park is situated to the northwest of St. James' Park and to the North of Buckingham Palace. Green Park is quieter than St James' Park and has a natural feel because it isn't filled with flowers, just trees and open space.
Tavistock Square
+ My Favorites
Tavistock Square was developed in 1820, after a design by Thomas Cubitt, on land owned by the Duke of Bedford. Found around the square are the headquarters of the British medical Association, University buildings, a plaque commemmorating Charles Dickens (who once lived on the site of the current BMA offices), a memorial to the victims of Hiroshima, and a statue of Mahatma Gandhi.

A large park in west London that used to belong to the Rothschild family until it was sold to the local borough council, Ealing, in 1926. The mansion that the Rothschilds used to live in stand well preserved within the park.

Richmond Park
+ My Favorites
The largest Royal Park in London, Richmond Park features a diverse landscape, one that encompasses ancient trees, wild grasslands, herds of fallow and red deer, ponds, hills and gardens. Designated a National Nature Reserve, the park spans 1000 hectares (2500 acres). Visitors can cycle, fish, watch wildlife, horse ride, hike and more. Having changed little over the years, it gives insight to the land's natural landscape.

+ My Favorites
Largely unknown to most tourists, Bushy Park is a gem located just north of Hampton Court Palace. One of the city's Royal Parks, it spans 445 hectares (1,099 acres). While there are manicured areas, parts of it are left rural, allowing for some 320 free-roaming deer. Also a highlight of the park, Chestnut Avenue houses the famous 'Diana' Fountain.

St. James Park
+ My Favorites
St. James Park was originally part of the private grounds of St. James Palace, where Prince Charles and his sons live, but is now open to the public. John Nash landscaped the park in 1827 and the layout has remained essentially the same since then. A large lake, called the St. James Park Lake, inside the park is home to a number of waterfowl including pelicans that have inhabited here since the reign of James I.
