Designed by world famous architecture firm Foster & Partners (also responsible for London's Swiss Re Building), construction on City Hall was completed in 2002. Located across the Thames from the Tower of London on the river's south bank, it is home to the Mayor of London, the London Assembly and the Greater London Authority (GLA). The impressive building is open to the public Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm.
