Serpentine + My Favorites
Referred to as a lake and a river, the Serpentine is a 28 acre (11 ha) body of water in London's Hyde Park. The Serpentine Bridge divides Hyde Park from its neighboring park, the Kensington Gardens. Address: Hyde Park | London, England
River Thames + My Favorites
The River Thames, Britain's most famous river, winds along for 135 miles passing by 44 lochs, as well as dozens of attractions and historical sites. The River Thames also serves as a drainage channel and provides London with two-thirds of its drinking water. Perhaps the most iconic stretch is the meander by the Tower of London, a good place to snap a photo of the Thames and Tower Bridge. Address: . | London, England [ Map ]
Walbrook River + My Favorites
Central to the Roman settlement, Walbrook River ran directly through the old city, bringing in fresh water and carrying out waste and sewage. A Roman temple was discovered on the East bank, as was the Roman Governor’s palace. It was also used to divide the Saxons and Britons after the Saxon invasions, giving rise to the affluent West End and the impoverished East End. The river now runs mostly underground, parallel to Walbrook street. Address: Walbrook | London, England [ Map ]
