Perhaps single-handedly bringing Jazz to Britain, Ronnie Scott—a tenor saxophonist drunk on American Jazz—opened his club with Pete King in Soho in 1959. The club moved from its original location in 1965 but still exists within Soho. Today, more popular than ever, Ronnie Scott's is internationally renowned for stellar performances by top jazz performers on a nightly basis. A London institution.
Open nightly 8:30pm-3am. Address: 47 Frith Street London Soho England W1D 4HT

The Social The Social was established in 1999 by the folks at Heavenly Records who wanted a home away from home to drink and listen to great music. The result is a casual and cool bar in central London where punters can relax upstairs and listen to tunes on one of the best jukeboxes in the city or pack into the downstairs space to check out guest DJs spinning everything from indie rock and electronic beats to funk and soul.
