The Queen's Guard is comprised primarily by full-uniformed Foot
Guards wearing red tunics and bearskins. The Changing of the Guard
takes place daily during the summer (and every other day after the
summer) in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace at 11:30 am. The New Guard leaves
Wellington Barracks and marches via the Birdcage Walk back to the
Palace; the Old Guard hands over its duties and the sentries are
changed. The entire ceremony lasts approximately 40 minutes in
